Automat is a popular San Francisco pop up restaurant known for their artisan versions of fast food dishes. Think crispy chicken sandwiches and deep fried tacos made from scratch with the finest local ingredients. Automat founder and chef, Matt Kirk, cut his teeth cooking at Bay Area institutions like Lazy Bear, Radius, and Spruce before starting Automat in partnership with Michelle Lozzi. On Sunday, Automat hosted a pop up breakfast at the Outer Sunset location of Andytown Coffee Roasters. The featured items were a scrambled egg sandwich with herbed green pimento cheese, sausage, and a thick slice of Wonder Bread-style white bread, and a ham sandwich with melted American cheese, a runny egg, and a soft bun with everything bagel seasoning. We had one of each and both were steaming hot off the griddle and amazing.
